4.5 stars. It took me over two weeks to read the first half of this book and an afternoon to finally finish it. Keeping up with the characters was a challenge at the really slow pace I started (most often, books on my Kindle are the few pages I read just before I fall asleep), especially since I'd forgotten most of what I learned of Greek mythology (I read the Iliad and the Odyssey in 10th grade ... 40 years ago!) An interesting take on the life of Achilles and Patroclus, as told through Patroclus's eyes. It tells similar aspects as told through Pat Barker's "The Silence of the Girls" though a male perspective. In both stories Patroclus's comes off quite well. They take a very different spin on the role of Briseis, and I definitely prefer Barker's version for that.
