Summer Bingo - Translation. Wow. I LOVED this book on audio. Listening to it - hearing the names just roll off easily, the inflection that helped me see the really funny parts (seriously, I laughed out loud many times) and the sad parts. I am so glad I gave the book another chance - a big thank you to all my friends on Goodreads who kept telling me how wonderful it was!!

This book made me feel less of the 'ardent reader' that I thought I was...I tried, I really really tried, because I know that I'm 'supposed to' read it, but I would have performed one hundred years of servitude to get out of reading the book....could NOT get into it at all...

An indisputably great book that happens to bore me stiff. Where is the unreliable narrator? Where are the linguistic pyrotechnics? I CANNOT WORK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.
I have to admit, this book is epic in every sense of the word. But I appreciate epic and enjoyed myself for the month or so that I read this book.
