Third review: something I realized this time around was how my mind was drawn to appreciating different POVs in a way I hadn’t focused on the first two reads. I really love how many POVs are incorporated in an effective way and that they are staggered throughout the chapters rather than one chapter at a time like AGOT. It helps to capture one event, like the “post incident” club meeting like you were really there and hearing the inside of several people’s brains at one time.

I know so many people love this but I really dislike Backman’s writing style. This book also seriously needs a trigger warning.

I wanted to like this book but, oh man, was it a struggle to read. There are 50 chapters and it only got interesting in the last third of the book and then only barely. Maybe if you're a hockey fan, you'll enjoy the love letter to hockey? ...more
