Annual re-read of one of my favorite books.
I read Pride & Prejudice from the perspective that Jane Austen was poking fun at the absurdities of class and the marriage game in the 1800's... tongue in cheek, pointing out the silliness of it all! In Elizabeth she presents a strong female character not willing to play the game, a woman not afraid to speak her mind, with so much spunk... I loved her! I liked the story. Already knew it from the BBC series. It's a great adaptation, but as usual I prefer the book, although I love the wet Mr Darcy on the series! :D
Although is a great love story, for me the best thing from this book is really the characters, as they're very well written and it's noticeable how the two main characters grow through the book. The portrait Austen does from the society is also priceless. ...more

I listened to this on audio in the mornings, while painting. This version is excellent - narrated by Rosamunde Pike. Made me fall in love with it all over again :)
I hadn't read it and I finally decided to listen to it. I loved it.
