Full disclosure: I listened to the abridged audiobook. It was, however, surprisingly good. Basically just a soap opera, but with weird Russian names. Folks in and out of each other's beds, fighting, betrayals, reunions, family drama. A good beach read, actually, if you go to the beach with people who won't give you a hard time for lugging around War and Peace. :)

I'm not even going to attempt to write a real review. Mostly I'm very happy to be DONE. But it was definitely very worth reading; there is some beautiful stuff in here. And then there's the history stuff, which by the end I was pretty tired of. But overall, worth the work and the time.
