March book club pick. I put off reading this until the last possible second, and to my surprise, once I picked it up, it was quite engaging. I started off REALLY not liking anyone in the book, and I'm about a third of the way in now, and I STILL don't like anyone, but yet I'm curious to see what happens next. Highly recommended by some of my finest recommending-friends, I was not particularly affected by this book, as expertly crafted as it was. I was never swept up in the suspenseful/suspenseless plot, nor did I respond to the characters, who seemed like weird miniature creatures from a Raymond Chandler novel.
