I give 3.5 stars for this book and another 0.5 stars for its idea.
I mean - this book is chilling and all, and many said it's still relevant to this day (I agree). But one thing I don't really like is the way this books is written - there are so many vague plots and loopholes that I found unsatisfactory. Man oh man. I don't know what took me so long to read this. It'd been on my To Read list for years, and I'm ashamed I just got to it, but so grateful I finally did.

My friend said it best when she said, "Reading The Handmaid's Tale gives me the same feelings as when I read The Hunger Games but turned up to 11." This book is anxiety-inducing and scarily relevant currently. I highly recommend it, if you can handle it.

Devastating, terrifying and gripping. Atwood is amazing at ratcheting up the tension. I hated the story, as I was supposed to, and was miserable reading it. But I'm glad I read it. I'm sure I'll be thinking about it for ages.
