I first read this in high school, and read it several times. I hadn't picked it up in years, though, since it's a long and somewhat heavy read. Thank God for audiobooks. My husband and I have been listening to this. I don't think I realized back then how heavy some of the writing is, overly explanatory, descriptive, etc. The characters are still compelling, though, perhaps more so as I understand it with a more adult viewpoint. I can grasp now some of the finer cultural and psychological points,
