It’s difficult to write a review of Jane Eyre. It’s a classic that has influenced so many works. I thought I had read it in high school or college, but I think I would have remembered more of the lines. Certainly any movie or re-creation doesn’t do it justice as so much of Jane’s inner thoughts are critical to the character development.

I roared through about 70% of this book, and then got bogged down. I think there is a definite shifting of gears, and the Jane that's been built up through the story suddenly seems to cease for a while. Confronting a new situation, she behaves in entirely un-Jane-like ways. This lasts for 15% of the book or so, and that was the part that moved slowly for me. Actually I listened to this. I loved it.
Reading this for a second time was such a pleasure. Jane is such a forthright, outspoken girl. You can see her character is already molded in the outburst against her Aunt Reed. How lovely to read the book after you know the "mystery". ...more

Finished!! Apparently pregnancy brain isn't conducive to the Bronte sisters, but I enjoyed it.
