So Now I know what the fuss was all about! I have heard of Jane Eyre since I was a young reader...it is one of those books that most people who consider themselves well-read have read. I resisted because I wasn't sure it was my cup of tea. I like dark comedies and fantasy...not really victorian romance. When this book fell in my lap, so to speak, I decided to give it a go. I roared through about 70% of this book, and then got bogged down. I think there is a definite shifting of gears, and the Jane that's been built up through the story suddenly seems to cease for a while. Confronting a new situation, she behaves in entirely un-Jane-like ways. This lasts for 15% of the book or so, and that was the part that moved slowly for me. I think I can safely say that Jane Eyre has become my favorite novel...I absolutely loved it!!!
