A fabulous memoir. I agree with another reviewer who wrote that this book is almost a love letter to Trevor Noah's amazing mother. The audio book was especially wonderful not only because Noah is very adept at imitating any accent, he is also a polyglot--meaning he speaks six languages fluently plus conversational German, and he reads parts of the book in the different languages (always followed by the English translation).

Since buying this book (Nelson Mandela) for my son, I realized I how litt

One of the best books I’ve read in a while! I’m bummed I didn’t listen to it on audio (he reads it) but I went to see his book talk when this came out, and it included a copy of the book. He said he thought he was going to write a book about growing up in South Africa at the end of Apartheid, but in reality, it turned into a love story to his mom. It was beautiful! I might spend the extra money and get it on audio, too...this would be the perfect thing for a long car ride.

Funny enlightening memoir about growing up in South Africa with a very strong mother. The audiobook version is read by the author and is excellent.

Love this man, loved listening to his book on CD. What an amazing life. His voice is an important one. Full-on crush on this man. A gem.

However as he did when all the news about his old tweets came out, I feel like there's some shirking of responsibility when he is insensitive to others. The chapter that struck me the most in this account was "Go, Hitler!" Now being Jewish it obviously strikes a chord but his explanation was the unknown am ...more

I can't say for sure that this would have held my interest the same way if I had read it to myself, but the audiobook was so good! ...more

This was a great read, but now that I’ve read Trevor Noah’s anti-semitic tweets from the past for which he does not apologize, I can no longer recommend it.
