Somehow I never read this in school or on my own until now. (i had terrible English teachers pre-college.) I can see why kids are assigned this book and how it could be so mind blowing to a teenager. The concepts it explores are important and terrifyingly too close to home, even 60+ years later. It's now clear to me how much influence this had on dystopian lit in general. All that said, I didn't really connect with the characters, I found some of it to be over dramatic and the writing style was
