I don't know why more people don't read narrative nonfiction. This book is packed with all the page turning elements of a good book: a sympathetic narrator, explorations of a unique and not well known culture (Tarahumara), rich descriptions of endurance and human strength, almost unbelievable characters, layman's science and explanations of anatomy and evolution, and a thrilling climax of a race through Mexico's colorful Copper Canyons.
