I loved this book!! I expected it to be a book all about barefoot running, which it's not. Barefoot running is mentioned (and I've been convinced to give it a try!), but it's a fascinating story about the Tarahumara people and their running culture. It's also an engaging story and you want to see how it ends! Great book! ...more

I have read 200+ pages so far today - it's 4pm. I am really loving this book!

I really did enjoy this book. I *strongly* wish it had photos - even with the descriptions, I could not really imagine the terrain they were running through/over and it would have helped me.

I found the chapters about evolutionary anthropology, the history of the running shoe, and the arguments for running barefoot interesting even though I really did want to get back to The Big Race. And I was fascinated by the chapters

It reads like a magazine article where the writer got caught up in the culture, and turned it into a book/lifestyle. Man it sure made me want to be a real-life runner

Such a good book - Blends travel, science and anthropology all into one spell-binding yarn. Loved it.
