This is an enthralling story of what it's like in the gray area of surviving a fascist regime—it's not as simple as saying a person is or isn't a Nazi. I often find historical fiction distracting, as I wind up googling to fact check what's true and what's not. However, it soon became obvious that this book is very thoroughly researched, and I was able to relax and enjoy the story. ...more
