I wanted to tell so many things to them and yet I didn't have the words.
As part of Book Riot's "Read Harder Challange" I was to a read an LGBTQ+ romance novel, after a little search I picked this book and wow it was so touching and heart warming!
It's a YA novel, about challenges, questions teenage boys have and struggles they face knowing themselves.
I could easily relate to Ari's confusion, his fight inside him, his hatred and love he had toward his parents.

What a terrific listen as an audiobook! Thanks to Lin-Manuel Miranda narrating and the excellent writing of Benjamin Alire Sáenz it makes for a great audiobook experience. The dialogue lends itself to be heard in a way that really enriches the listener's experience of this story.
Ari and Dante have a chance encounter at the swimming pool which then weaves their lives together in their own coming into who they are. It's honest, harsh, heartbreaking and heartwarming all in one.

Sweet, impressionistic novel about two boys discovering their sexuality and dealing with buried trauma. The prose is lovely and fluid, and it's not surprising that the author is also a poet.
