I basically read this in one day. The beauty of the mother and son's relationship, their mutual love for books and the power of words, along with the mother's incredible life made this a compelling read. I will think of this book for a very long time.

This was a beautiful book about a son spending time with his mother who was dying of pancreatic cancer. They formed their own book club and their conversations led them to become closer. I identified so much with his descriptions about how much his mother loved books and how important they were to her.

I want to like this book much more than this. What's not to like from a memoir of a book lover, written by her son who's also a book lover? Lots of book recommendations, for sure! Also some chapters about several books that I've already read, so it feels a bit nostalgic as well. But sadly I can't connect much with the people in this book, both the sick mom and the writer son.
