I almost quit this book around the 50-page mark and then kept reading because it intrigued me, but I honestly couldn't figure out how I felt about it as I was reading. Now that I'm done, I still don't really know, which I guess means I like it because I didn't hate it and certainly found it intriguing.

I have had this book on my Kindle for several years and picked up a couple of times before this, and never got past the first page or two. I also tried Libertie, but made it about a quarter of the way in before I put it down. Recently I saw this scrolling on my Kindle and since sign language, biology, family dynamics, and racism are all topics of interest, I decided to pick it up again. I’m still not quite sure what to make of this book. It doesn’t lay out easy answers for the reader, which I appreciate. And it disturbed me in ways that I need to be disturbed.
