What Members Thought

A gorgeously gutting read about the dangers of sacrificing parts of yourself for others, the complications of bad family members, and the curse of good intentions. Here Comes the Sun takes place in rural Jamaica and follows three women who dare to dream for more in their lives. This novel is beautifully written and emotionally devastating - absolutely worth a read.

Provides insight into life in Jamaica outside of the shiny resorts that many tourists don't see. There's a lot that can be said about this - the cheerful title and colorful cover are both ironic as this is not a happy book. It touches on race and gender and the way many lives- especially those of non-white (and in this case) women are deemed worthless by others and how that ultimately affects their own feelings of self worth. Feels especially relevant now.
