Audiobook review:
I read this back in college and when I went to watch season one of the show, I realized I barely remembered any of it, so I wanted to return to it. The full cast audiobook is a lot of fun and adds and exciting depth and richness to the story. The ancillary materials for the 10th anniversary edition are also a treat for those revisiting the story.

I really enjoyed the idea of all the imported mythologies from so many cultures hiding among the mortals, trying to stay alive against the invented mythology of money and technology as their own power fades. Shadow was such an interesting character and Gaiman paced his character history/reveals very well. Great road trip book.

Wrapped up my summer reading challenge with this one to step outside my normal lane. Dark and deep, those tales of lore.

In any event, I'd recommend it - an interesting approach to some modern-day moral dilemmas, a murder mystery, and ideas about what a god would look like if he/she were "passing" as a person. Not happy and light, nor heavy and dark ...more
