I loved it. I will not mention that nonsense about how wonderful the use of dialect is - dialect is what it is. What I loved about it was that Janie was real. It is clear why this is a classic. It shares the story of Janie, her three husbands, and her growing comfort with herself. When it was recommended to me, there was a great emphasis on the focus on African American culture in a specific time period.
