Excellent book, great story. Reflects a life I never lived but now can understand a little. The dialogue is in dialect which can be difficult. You might want to consider an audio version to vet the feel for it.

3.5 stars. I've always wanted to read this book. I started by listening to the audio version & reading along. Ruby Dee is excellent, but I was too impatient to continue with her. She did help me get a feel for the dialect, though.

I didn't fall in love with this one, but I'm glad I read it.
