How better than to write book about war than with an insane protagonist? Tragic, sad and beautiful.

For reasons of me not being organized and also being forgetful, I own a copy of this book in every format: paperback (used book sale), audible (some sale), and e-book (also some sale). Clearly, I've been needing to read it for a looong time. So I finally listened to the audiobook, narrated by James Franco. Who is perfect for it.
