Well, it's going to be hard to do this review without spoilers so...
I really give this more like 4.5 stars. At the risk of angering friends, it took quite a chunk of book for me to really get into it. I found it relatively slow for quite some time, but then of course it got good, and the last 200 or so pages flew by.

The Fifth Season is the first book in a new series by N.K. Jemisin. I read, but did not love, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, and didn't continue that series. But this got so much buzz after winning the Hugo, I decided to give her another try.
