3.5 Stars. So I liked that this moved right along - I read the last half all at once, I think, and stayed up past my bedtime to do so.
A book buddy of mine described this book as "A greasy bag of potato chips" and I would have to agree. Sometimes you're just in the mood for something salty and fatty and decidedly not good for you. This book is like that. It's tense. The mystery is compelling. You want to keep eating/reading (and in this case, possibly drinking gin and tonics).

Wow, I really didn't expect to like this book that much. I had recently read Gone Girl, which this isn't that similar other than it features twisted, damaged people, but was looking for something that felt close to the same. I was almost sorry that I decided to pick this up as I literally could not put it down and ended up staying up past my bedtime yesterday.

I finished this while on our off-the-grid vacation a couple of weeks ago, so it's a little vague to me now. But I did enjoy it - the story focuses on a woman who gets herself involved in the life of a couple she sees from her commuter train every day. There's a lot going on - disappearance/murder, alcoholism, depression, divorce - and it all plays together into something pretty interesting.

Couldn't stop but I was the twist coming a mile away.

Listened to this in basically two sittings. So addictive.
