Great horror book for the Halloween season. It critiques our society's obsession with reality tv and uses both a blog and an interview to tell the story. I would not use the term scary to describe the book but rather intense and unsettling in a creepy way. ...more

Shelves: kindle, favorites, horror

It's *almost* September so it's time to get my horror on. I'm so glad last year's streak involved lots of Shirley Jackson because there's a lot of Shirley going on here. To be fair, there's a lot of William Peter Blatty, Stephen King, and other horror favorites to uncover. Tremblay gleefully shares the book's influences, from Paranormal Activity to Session 9. Shelves: crime-thriller

Not as creepy as I was hoping it would be, and I never bought into the parents’ motivation for.. handling things.. the way they did. The snarky side eye to reality entertainment and clever references to the horror genre were good, though.
