Why have I not been on to Anne Tyler before now? Best book I've read in ages. Going to start reading another of hers tomorrow. There is not one thing I didn't like about this book. ...more

A teenage boy believes he is responsible for his brother's suicide. To deal with the guilt, he helps to raise the brother's children and gets involved in religion. I loved the first half of this novel and the direction it was going, but then lost interest and didn't care about the characters anymore. I don't even know how she ended it. ...more
