I just read this interesting article which argues this book is the one we should be reading (instead of 1984) given the current political climate. I'm definitely intrigued, since this book, published in 1995, also seems to be YA dystopian fiction before that was such a popular genre.

It's eerie to read books written a while ago that are set in the future, when you are almost in that future the author predicted. This novel was written in 1993 about a girl who lives in the outskirts of Los Angeles in the year 2024.
