The act of sharing the reading of a book with a friend is a delight. Even more so when you share the reading of a book set in school halls with a retired teacher.
I had so much fun on this buddy’s read with Robert.
The beauty of Ms Spark is her writing. I said to Robert in our discussion she is like a rubber band around the story. Always revealing and the retracting parts of he story. The itchy uncomfortable characters make the story so compelling.

It was completely character driven and Spark had a keen eye for observation of human nature etc but I still couldn't make myself care about them!

I have now abandoned this book three times, so I’m finally making a note of it here so I don’t pick it up at another thrift store. I’ve read so many good reviews on this book, that I keep thinking it’s on I absolutely must read, but it is apparently not my cup of tea.
There are too many repetitive words and phrases, and I don’t like how the flashbacks happen mid-paragraph. While I think the story is one I would like, I can’t bear the writing style any longer.

I was a little disappointed by this book, and found it a little too repetitive and opaque for my taste. however, it reads quickly and isn't boring. but, ultimately I wasn't that moved by it.

It has its moments... But I didn't love it. Mostly I just thought Miss Brodie was kinda nasty and I'm not sure why any of the girls ever liked her.
