Eh? The first 100-200 pages were really good, just those chapters spanning New Year's Eve and then the narrative goes all to hell and just stagnates in all these different backstories. And then....nothing happens during the blackout? The flap copy does no favors for what actually happens in this book. Not sure I would have bid seven figures for this advance.

Good writing, I liked the multimedia-style inserts, particularly the work that went into Sam's 'zine. ...more

Paused this on 6/2/16, after book club met. It's compelling when the author settles in with a character, but is jumping around a lot, and there are a lot of sub-plots I'm not sold on. ...more
