2019 re-read: I didn't love this as much as I did the first time (7 years ago, almost to the day, and just like now with a RAGING cold), but I also can't bring myself to remove a star from the rating.

Good idea, mediocre writing, very mediocre characters, terrible pacing. Stephen King, there is no reason on earth that this book needed to be almost 900 pages long. Hire an editor, sir!

This book was, improbably, ultimately a story about true love. It made me cry many a time. I enjoyed the adventure into 40 years ago. King writes a mean book.

It was brilliant.

It took a long time to read--mainly because I paused it for a few months.

I was really enjoying this up until the end, which felt rushed. But all in all a terrific read.
