This didn't make an impression at all. It's written by Libba Bray, but it wasn't really what I like about her writing. It's her first book so whatever I still love her.

A quck and very engaging read. It's 1895 and Gemma Doyle has been sent to Spence, an elite school for "ladies" in England after her mother was murdered in India. Only Gemma has a secret. She saw her mother die; she had a vision where she saw her mother take her own life in order to avoid being devoured by some sort of evil. And, these visions have followed Gemma to England and to Spence and that's not all that has followed her.

I don't like books that make me wait until the very end to form an opinion about them!!! It could have been my mood lately, but I found the characters overly stereotyped as teenage girls. If petulant, they became the most petulant ever. If snide, the snidest possible. However, the story line showed a little promise, and I'll probably read the rest of the series. But to be frank, I expected more from this book than it delivered.

I wasn't sure what to think of the book, having borrowed the book on a number of occasions and never started it for a variety of reasons, but once I was able to get into the book, it was a very addicting book. While it did creep me out for a little bit near the end, it was a very good read and I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
