The perfect follow-up to "Walden." This is the influential book which really kicked off the environmental movement in America. The destruction of the environment through use of poisons and chemicals is presented as the result of pure profit motives by chemical companies aided by government agencies who went along by being incurious about actual research--or just ignored the results.

Perhaps not a great book, but certainly an important one.

This is the book that started the environmental movement. It can come off dry at times due to the scientific data but Carson pulls of prose well, too. Great for anyone who is interested in environmental causes.
