Well written but disturbing and depressing story is not much fun to read,
I might give this book to the next person who asks me why in the I voluntarily moved to Boston. BAY AREA REAL ESTATE RUINS LIVES.
OK, so they don't live happily ever after. There is no good guy or bad guy. If you want that stuff go back to kiddy lit. The fog of war over a house completely blinds the characters in this story, much as it would just about any homeowner. It's the American Dream gone terribly wrong. Wonderful, gripping read.

This is one of the rare books that was made into a movie where I actually prefer the movie. All the characters in the movie are more sympathetic than they are in the book. Still, the book is worth the read.
