Oh, yes, the prose is lovely, as sparkling and pointed as the champagne everyone's always drinking at Gatsby's parties, but I'd forgotten just how reprehensible the characters are, just how morally vapid and disgusting. Still, it's of its time and summery and I'm glad to have re-read it. ...more
