If I liked the writing and the psychological portrait of the characters, there where parts in which some choices seemed out of character and were just to get the story on some twists and turns that helped to reach a kind of cheap ending. So I guess it's like a 3,5.

As I said, the psychological portrait was probably the best thing of the entire book, even if we're dealing with psycho and sociopaths. However, I could relate to Nick and Amy's problems and insecurities, ...more

By now (August of 2013) the hype around this book has reached such lunatic heights that you can't read it with a completely open mind. But I think I came pretty close, knowing nothing whatsoever about the plot or twists, only aware of its popularity and my various friends' reactions to the end (ranging from "standing ovation" to "rage").

So many people told me to read this book, even with that I did not expect to like it as much as I did. The characters are fairly rotten people, and yet I I could not stop reading. I highly recommend this book.

I must say it took me a while to get going with this book. The first half was interesting enough for me to keep at it a little here and a little there. Then the second half came and BAM! I'm up all night reading. I'm reading at work. I'm thinking about it while I'm not reading it (which is a measure on how good a book is for me). And I'm still thinking about this a week later. I started this on audiobook and had a hard time getting into it, but really enjoyed it in print. Gripping. Sick. Filled with plot twists that I did not see.
