If I had to condense this book into three words, they would be: hostile, clever, funny. Yes, despite the seemingly dark territory that this book covers, I found it very funny. As I had mentioned in my status updates, this book’s main plot circles around the nearly suffocating and deceptive nature of relationships. In the obvious plane, the marriage and its breakdown between the characters, but also the liaison between us- the reader, the author, and the characters; yes a straight-up regular ména

Gah! I don't know whether I like or dislike this book. I felt very irritated and impatient for it to be over for much of the way through, and yet I did want to know how it would end enough to keep reading. I figured out the first big twist very early on, and one of the theories I had about the ending was close to the real one, so I wish there had been more surprises than there were. I was compelled along to finish this but found the characters completely lacking any redeeming qualities or anything that would endear them to the reader. Well-written and it certainly held my interest, and I appreciate that clearly we're not meant to like either lead (though for vastly different reasons), but the ending was so thoroughly unsatisfying as to knock it down a star. Just no real payoff whatsoever

This is such a twisted book. It didn't end the way it "was supposed to" - but it was brilliantly written. Simply amazing.

A page turner for sure, although I'm not sure how I felt about it by the time it was over.
