The best writers don't try to simplify all of the messy realities - and nothing about this book is simple. You find that the characters aren't exactly who you think they are, and their motivations aren't so straightforward. You learn this along with the characters themselves, who are discovering that the way that they perceive each other is more a reflection of the way they perceive themselves.

This is the third book I've read by John Green, and again, he does not disappoint. The characters in are very likable and easy to relate to, even as an adult. The mystery is well crafted and suspenseful. There were no moments in which I felt like I knew what was going to happen next, which I hate in mysteries. Would definitely recommend this to others.

I found this to be another perfectly adequate YA novel. As with all his books, the principal characters speak with the same voice as that of John Green, at least as he presents himself in Vlogbrothers and other YouTube projects. He shows he has some writing skills but not much range. Would I recommend this book? Sure, but not necessarily as a must read.
