While the first half of the book was slow, I was incredibly moved and absorbed by the second half. Ultimately Krakauer makes Chris McCandless sympathetic and understandable - even to me, who has very few of the same drives or ambitions. Perhaps not Krakauer's best book, a great read nonetheless. ...more
