Almost done with the series...I don't feel terribly compelled to read the unfinished fifth book so hopefully I can get on with my life and pretend this teen vampire obsession never really happened....

This one was much better than the previous two (more in line with the first book) and I thought the author actually went some really interesting and unexpected places with the story. There is (in my opinion) a critical flaw in the logic of this story. It bugged the heck out of me for the first 200 pages, to the point that I almost stopped reading it for a while. Bella finally becomes a vampire at the end and afterwards is impossible to identify with as she apparently loses all self doubt and ability to introspect along with her humanity. The last third of the book is ultimatel ...more

The beginning was a bit gagging (I'm actually really not a fan of the way Meyer writes about the romance between Bella and Edward, mostly because I only really buy it half of the time due to extreme sappiness) but once the ridiculous honeymoon was over it got nice and vampirey and juicy. The climax was rather...anti-climactic, but other than that good beach reading fun. ...more
