So now that I'm the librarian at a high school, this was one YA series I could no longer consciously avoid. I had read Twilight years ago and started New Moon when it came out. Bella is sooo whiny and weak-willed that I almost immediately put it down. (She is the antithesis of what we want our girl-children to be!) I couldn't stop reading!! I can't decide if it's fair to judge a book based on the previous book in the series(which I LOVED). On its own, I'd probably give this book a 5, but I do have to admit that this book wasn't QUITE as good as the 1st... hence the 4/5. The other thing that keeps me from totally raving about this book is that Bella started to annoy me just a little. I would have much rather seen at least some of the stubborn resistant Bella... instead, she spends the entire book as a crump

This book was so much better than the first. I love the character of Jacob. The first part of the book was my favorite. Maybe that's because Edward was gone. I did like the second part - after Edward returned - better than the whole of Twilight, but I'm still not an Edward fan.

Okay. This book didn't "destroy me" as one of my students told me it would. But I found parts of it interesting. Not as page-turning as the first, although I did like the development of the character Jacob
