Actually, the beginning is pretty good, with Bella once again in danger where she didn't think she would find it, and with her heart being broken. Then we follow her depression until sunshine comes into her life, in the form of Jacob Black. He, unlike Edward, is much more merrier, joyful, comprehensive, nice, intelligent... until he turns into a werewolf and we seem to have a déjà-vu, with Jake feeling This book seemed a bit better than the previous one, more interesting, with a bit more action. Actually, the beginning is pretty good, with Bella once again in danger where she didn't think she would find it, and with her heart being broken. Then we follow her depression until sunshine comes into her life, in the form of Jacob Black. He, unlike Edward, is much more merrier, joyful, comprehensive, nice, intelligent... until he turns into a werewolf and we seem to have a déjà-vu, with Jake feeling like a monster, who can put Bella in danger and, for that, she should stay away from him... That kind of stuff we had already seen happening with Edward. However, Jacob doesn't make her forget her great love and, when Edward finds himself in danger, she doesn't give up and follows him, only to find herself desired by two mortal enemies: vampire and werewolf.

As I said, this book has a bit more action or better, it promises it will have action, because that never appears or it is fulfilled satisfactorily, besides of it being predictable. There's the threaten posed by Victoria, who rarely shows up, since she never gets to Bella and is mostly dealt with the werewolves; there's the threaten posed by the Volturi, who, in my opinion, is never fully developed, since the scene ends up in an innocent martyr, and instead of putting some disgust and fear in Bella, she still won't give up on being turned into a vampire. Here we come to a contradiction.

Let's see, Bella wants to be immortal, a vampire, so she can spend eternity with Edward (ah! and let's not forget she wants to be turned before she gets much older, in appearance, than her boyfriend), however, when he tells her that he will turn her if she marries him, if she takes a commitment to life, the girl thinks twice and three times, and has doubts, since even her mother has something against marriages before 30. So, she's 18 and wants to die to become immortal and spend the rest of her immortal life with Edward, but to get married is out of the question. I think someone has her priorities mixed up.

Like the first volume, it's a nice and easy read at the end of a work day, but the end is left open. We understand Bella will have to make a choice, but can she do it? Next is Eclipse, book that raises very mixed reviews. Let's see if it will convince me... ...more

I enjoyed this sequel to Twilight, maybe a little more than Twilight itself. I find myself preferring Jacob to Edward, and feeling pretty bad for him by the end of this book. And though I do like this series, I don’t particularly like Bella much — I find her quite selfish. I’m curious to see where the series goes. Bella’s not a vampire yet, but she sure wants to be. Will she get her wish? Or will Edward get his way?

Yes, there were parts of this that were excruciating. I think if I had read this as my 15-year-old self I would have adored it a lot more. Still- a very fun and very fast read. I couldn't put it down. And am I crazy for liking the OTHER fantastic creatures?

I guess that's the point, huh. Ready for book 3, next weekend- these are far too distracting to read on a lunch break. ...more

Ok, now Edward's just getting a little annoying. Bella too. If I have to read one more line that mentions Edward's "topaz eyes" or "velvety voice", or Jake's "large warm hands" I'm seriously gonna scream. I think I better wait a little while before I move on to Eclipse. I'm far to jaded for teen romances. ...more
