It was okay, but not worth the hype. I was never able to actually like the main characters and it was hard to foster enthusiasm for their relationship once they actually got together. I was expecting Dexter to mature and grow, but he didn't really. And it was utterly frustrating to read about Emma frittering through life waiting and hoping he'd love her. Both witty and sweet, with shades of "Same Time, Next Year", Nicholls has created two fully realized characters in Dexter and Emma (and I don't know that I realized how rare that quality is, at least among books I've read lately). I'm just a bit younger than the main characters, so I definitely related (although I'm sure that people my age from London ADORE this book). Well worth reading, and a perfect summer choice (July 15 and all).
