It might have been better if I had read it at the same time I read the main trilogy. After all this time has passed, I don't remember any of the details of Tally and her crew. I suppose in that way, I am more able to identify with Aya's perspective, knowing OF Tally, but not really knowing her.

This was a little better than Specials, and good enough that I'm glad I slogged through the whole series. This one takes place in an entirely different city...in Asia! Wow!

I really liked Uglies and Pretties, but I feel like the last two books fell flat.
I liked that the setting was changed to a new city on a different continent, and I liked the characters. I enjoyed the face rank conceit. I also liked how Tally was worked into the story. The plot itself was a little dumb.
But still, entertaining overall! If he writes more books in this series, I'll read 'em. MAN they're a quick read, though. ...more
