This is a call to action, blatantly opposing religious fundamentalism that oppresses women. Eltahawy (an Egyptian-American journalist) uses her own personal decisions about things like wearing a headscarf and preserving her virginity to force readers to look at her subjects as real women who have real rights; she won't let you treat it as an abstraction.

Review forthcoming – this book is a must-read. I don't think I've ever been more horrified or uncomfortable reading a book before, but it's a subject that deserves attention.
