I think most can relate to having a crazy friend, one with a personality that is completely unpredictable. People stay around him as though pulled into his wake, even if they would prefer to stay away. He always has a companion, an observer to the madness, as well as someone to spring him out of a jam. I find that with Kerouac I either can't put the book down or I can't pick it back up again, depending on what he's rambling about at the moment. I refuse to skip parts so it tends to take a bit of time for me to finish his books because I lag and start reading something else when he gets dry.

That being said, I really liked this book overall.
