If gasoline had only cost in the late 1940s what it costs now, this unpleasantness could have been avoided.
Surprise, surprise. I quite like this book :) I expected the worst I guess, reading the negative reviews and all. People said it's pretentious, overrated, etc etc. But I enjoyed it immensely. I don't know about beat generation or political contents or anything - since I didn't read this in high school haha. But the travel experience itself- it's amazing. The needs to keep on going and moving. The quest to find IT. What is IT anyway? Did Sal and Dean really find IT in the end? Or is IT only there

I didn’t enjoy this but finished it anyway. For me, the prose was overshadowed by how much I disliked Dean Moriarty and his frantic rushing about. The parts where Sal is on his own, and not being carried along by Dean’s mad drive were much better, IMHO.
