What Members Thought

Before I read this one, my favorite in the series was #3. Haven't read anyone else's reviews, yet, so will be interested to see what others thought. The book kept me wondering til the very end who would live. Of course I was glad it was Harry (and the epilogue was wonderful - I love a happy ending!). Loved the theme about parental love being special. And all the twists and turns in this story. Harry finally made some good decisions, too.

i seem to have an unpopular take on deathly hallows... i'm disappointed! rowling has kept me captivated for the whole series; she's created a vivid, engaging world, and it was great to revisit harry's world this time around. to be clear, i'm not disappointed in how she ended the book. what bothered me is that it seemed to lack a good amount of editing. vague sentences abounded, the story dragged out painfully in the middle of the book... and her cursory treatment of snape's internal struggle was

This book was excellent, possibly the best of the series. It is definitely one of my my two favorites of the series. Rowling has done an amazing job bringing together all the loose ends, and even ends you didn't know were loose to begin with, and tying them up into a beautiful bow. Characters are revealed for who they really are, and for what their motives really are. There are massive, timeless themes at play here--redemption, forgiveness, love, sacrifice...in some ways it reminds me of the Mat
