I first read this book almost ten years ago to the day. I think I read it incredibly fast because I found I didn't remember key plot points or many character endings. This time, I went more slowly (and still read it in just over 24 hours) and I marveled at the way Rowling crafted this whole series.
I often fall in love with the characters in books - that's one reason I read - for the connection. But this series has many characters that I love for varying reasons. One thing I particularly love abo ...more

OK, so obviously this book was great, if for no other reason then we all finally got to see the ending of the Harry Saga.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
But I did have some issues with it that made it not the best thing ever. The biggest one was the Epilogue that raised a bajillion questions, even if it did help make the story come full circle and tie the themes together. I don't know many people who were satisfied with the epilogue, so I guess I'm not alone.

Finally. End of my Hotter Potter journey. I was very sad after finishing this book and made a promise to visit Harry again someday. As usual, I felt Rowling's brilliant ending very touching. The circle is complete, although we missed some of very great characters in this book. I still wish Rowling will also visit Harry's world again one day - make a spin off or prequel or anything related to wizarding world.

Don't worry...I won't spoil anything! Before you read the Deathly Hallows, make sure you are familiar with everything that happens in book 6; I forgot to refresh my memory (it had been 2 years) and I was way confused in the beginning. It got to the point where I stopped reading this one and re-read the last 8 chapters or so of the Half-Blood Prince before I could continue. I must say, I'm jealous of the people who are just starting the series and will be able to read all 7 books back to back, as

Okay, I know what everyone is saying about this book. Rowling ties it up like a pretty package with a bow. It could happen...why not!?!? Why is everyone so against a happy ending??? I loved the way she ended the series. Everyone is complaining about the very VERY brief "19 years later..." She left tons of room for more books about the adventures of Harry. Which is what I desperately hope will happen in the future. She doesn't need to write anything for a while....I understand needing some time o

I don't know that it was worthy of the Second Coming of Christ-level hype it got, but it was a good ending to a good series, and in the end, that's pretty much what I was looking for. Dragged a bit in a few spots, and my favorite character, Luna, didn't have quite enough to do, but those are just minor sticking points, really.

As most of you know, I stayed up and read it after I got it at midnight on the 21st. I've thought about it for a while, and now I'm rereading it. More to follow.

Bravo! What a strange combination of elation and grief when I finished it. I'll miss Harry.
