I first read this book almost ten years ago to the day. I think I read it incredibly fast because I found I didn't remember key plot points or many character endings. This time, I went more slowly (and still read it in just over 24 hours) and I marveled at the way Rowling crafted this whole series.

OK, so obviously this book was great, if for no other reason then we all finally got to see the ending of the Harry Saga.

But I did have some issues with it that made it not the best thing ever. The biggest one was the Epilogue that raised a bajillion questions, even if it did help make the story come full circle and tie the themes together. I don't know many people who were satisfied with the epilogue, so I guess I'm not alone.

Before I read this one, my favorite in the series was #3. Haven't read anyone else's reviews, yet, so will be interested to see what others thought. The book kept me wondering til the very end who would live. Of course I was glad it was Harry (and the epilogue was wonderful - I love a happy ending!). Loved the theme about parental love being special. And all the twists and turns in this story. Harry finally made some good decisions, too.

This book was amazing. I've really enjoyed the whole series and it was bittersweet seeing it come to a close. I was nervous about this final book being cheesy or overdone, but it was neither (well, except for the epilogue maybe)- it was just very, very good. Highly recommended.

i seem to have an unpopular take on deathly hallows... i'm disappointed! rowling has kept me captivated for the whole series; she's created a vivid, engaging world, and it was great to revisit harry's world this time around. to be clear, i'm not disappointed in how she ended the book. what bothered me is that it seemed to lack a good amount of editing. vague sentences abounded, the story dragged out painfully in the middle of the book... and her cursory treatment of snape's internal struggle was

J.K. Rowling has ended this series in a very satisfying conclusion. I think this has to be my favorite Harry Potter book. It has inspired me to go back to the beginning and start over with book 1, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
